Meet our new Board of Governors members

As a new fiscal year begins, our Board of Governors is excited to introduce our 2022-2023 officers and four new members. Get to know our officers, Scott Moise, Michael Bond and Kellah Webster, and our four new members, Joe Huddleston, Sonam Shah Rajaram, Eddie Kinsey and Ozell Newman.


OFFICERS

Scott Moise, ’74, ’89 JD, President

Scott Moise joined the Board of Governors in 2015 as the representative for Congressional District 1. She is a partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. A resident of Johns Island, SC, Moise is a 1974 graduate of UofSC with a B.A. in Secondary English and a 1989 graduate of UofSC School of Law. 


Michael Bond, ’77, President-Elect

Michael Bond has served on the Board of Governors since 2012. He most recently served as the Presidential Appointee for the Board of Governors. Bond is a native of Seneca, SC and is a 1977 graduate of UofSC with a B.S. in Accounting and is also a 1980 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a senior partner with the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP based in New York.


Kellah Webster, ’92, Secretary

Kellah Webster has served on the Board of Governors since 2017. She most recently served as the board representative from Congressional District 7. A resident of Conway, SC, Webster is a 1992 graduate of UofSC with a B.S. in Sport and Entertainment Management. She is the co-owner of Environmental Systems Testing Services Inc. Webster also serves as the chair of the Horry County Gamecock Club.


NEW MEMBERS

Joe Huddleston, ’71, Presidential Appointee

Huddleston earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University in 1971 and received a Doctor of Laws LL.D  in 2009. He serves as Managing Director for Ernst and Young in their National Tax office for Indirect Tax (State and Local), and he resides with his wife Catherine in Johns Island, SC. He is also serving his final term on the University’s Board of Visitors.


Sonam Shah Rajaram, ’07, National At-Large

Sonam Shah Rajaram is a manager on the North America Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team at McKinsey & Company. After graduating from UofSC Honors College with a BS in Biology, Sonam earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. She was a general surgery resident physician at Northwestern University in Chicago before transitioning to healthcare consulting and then DEI at McKinsey. She now lives in Houston, TX, with her husband and 2-year-old son.


Eddie Kinsey, ’87, S.C. Congressional District 3

Eddie Kinsey is the Vice President for Energy Conversion Corp. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate. Kinsey resides in Anderson, SC, which has been home for him and his wife, Phylis Jeffcoat Kinsey, for more than 20 years.  An active member of the community, Kinsey serves on the Anderson Area YMCA and Habitat for Humanity of Anderson board. Kinsey previously served on the University’s Board of Visitors.


Ozell Newman, ’92, ’17, S.C. Congressional District 7

Ozell Newman serves as the Manager for Area Distribution Engineering with Santee Cooper, where he has worked for nearly 30 years. Newman is a resident of Myrtle Beach, SC and serves as the Horry County Gamecocks alumni club leader. Newman has volunteered with many nonprofits in his community including the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America Troop 828, Horry County March of Dimes, Partners for Minorities in Engineering and Computer Science and the Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology. He is passionate about helping area youth, as evidenced by his involvement in the 100 Black Men of America Inc., Myrtle Beach Chapter, where he served as vice president of programs and past co-director of the Youth Leadership Academy.
