A passion for sports—and coaching
Mallory Dixon excels in the classroom and on the volleyball court
For December 2021 graduate Mallory Dixon, the University of South Carolina offered a high-quality experience on the volleyball court and in the classroom.
“I grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and I went to school in Wisconsin. I wanted a difference experience,” she says. “I looked for a school that had good volleyball and either a public health degree or exercise science degree. And obviously, South Carolina has a really good exercise science program and also good volleyball. So the worlds kind of collided.”
COVID-19 also had an impact when she arrived on campus during the summer of 2020. But Dixon was able to play in the full 2020 volleyball season and excel in the classroom.
After graduation, she will move back to Madison, Wisconsin to coach club volleyball. She is also considering becoming a physical therapist or physician’s assistant in the future.
