Alumni spotlight: Christine “Lizzie” Howell discusses running the social media platforms of the oldest engineering society in America

Christine “Lizzie” Howell graduated from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications in 2018 with a degree in public relations. Now, she manages the social media platforms for the American Society of Civil Engineers, the oldest engineering society in America.
“I used to joke all the time when I was younger that I wish I could tweet for a living,” she says. “But I didn’t know that it was necessarily an actual, viable option until I started with the J-school.”
The 150,000-member society advocates for multiple causes, and Howell develops content to engage multiple viewer groups.
