‘Seeing that spark’

Accounting alumna transitions to faculty lecturer

Laura Self, Moore School alumna and faculty member

Alumna and accounting lecturer Laura Self (MACC ’08) took a “leap of faith” when she made the decision to teach full-time at the Moore School.

“I love that I get to combine the technical knowledge of accounting with my love for people,” she said. “At my core, I am an accounting nerd, and I love seeing that spark for accounting come alive in my students.”

In addition to being a faculty member, Self is a highly involved alumna.

“Active and engaged alums enrich the school experience greatly in a way that professors alone cannot do,” she said. “I also think that, as an alum, if you stay active with your alma mater, you get the first pick of the best students to hire.”
