Recent alumnus kicks off five-year plan as Rotary Global Scholar followed by return to UofSC to study medicine

2021 public health graduate Jared (J.D.) Dawson will kick off his five-year plan with a $50,000 Rotary Ambassadorial Global Grant to attend the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Afterward, he’ll return to UofSC to study medicine.
As part of his Master of Public Health program at the University of Cape Town, Dawson will research chronic disease and HIV/AIDS within Black rural communities. He will apply what he learns there to Black rural communities in South Carolina.
After graduating in 2023, Dawson will return to the School of Medicine Greenville’s Class of 2027 as a Levi S. Kirkland Scholar.
