From family wholesale to IBM
International MBA alumnus pivots career to consulting

Boyd King graduated from the Moore School’s No.1 ranked International MBA program in May 2021, and days later, he began his senior strategy consultant role with IBM.
King pivoted his decade-long career with his family’s bait and tackle wholesaler and now works with senior executives of multinational companies. He works with clients’ organizational change management needs.
“The first project I was fortunate enough to be placed on was the massive Delta Airlines cloud transformation effort,” King said. “For eight months, I was tasked with collaborating with several other consultants to help prepare Delta for their transformation by helping define their new cloud target operating model, roles and responsibilities and other components as it relates to their people.”
King credits his experience in the International MBA program for his career trajectory.
“I had an entrepreneurial background but changing into a consulting role came with challenges,” King said. “Thanks to the various job fairs, alumni connections and case interviews, I had no doubt I was ready for this next chapter in my career.”
