2022 Student Awards

May 2022 public health graduates Stephen “Andrew” Zahran and Zola Jane Alpin are the recipients of the inaugural Outstanding Public Health Awards.

Zahran received the Academic Scholar – Excellence Award and was admitted to the South Carolina Honors College. Next, he will work as a healthcare consultant at Huron Consulting Firm and later return to school to complete a master of public health in health services and policy.

Aplin spent her time at South Carolina volunteering with multiple organizations, like Planned Parenthood, the Red Cross and the Backpack Project. After taking a gap year to work as a medical scribe, she will pursue a dual master of public health and doctor of medicine to provide reproductive healthcare to women in need.
