Young Alumni Checklist

Did you recently graduate from the University of South Carolina? Welcome to the alumni family! The transition to life after college can sometimes be stressful and confusing, but the Alumni Association is here to help.

Each of the items of this checklist is a step you can take to start life as a USC alum and stay connected to the University. Download/print the document and check off each item as you complete them!

☐ 1. Snap a photo in front of the Pastides Alumni Center’s Gamecock gates.

☐ 2. Find an alum to turn your USC ring around, facing the Seal towards the world.

☐ 3. Become a member of the Alumni Association. >>>

☐ 4. Rep your alma mater by purchasing official alumni merchandise. >>>

☐ 5. Update your social media accounts to reflect your new alumni status.

☐ 6. Follow @UofSCAlumni on your favorite social media platform. >>>

☐ 7. Join the USC Alumni LinkedIn group and connect with 10,000+ other Gamecocks. >>>

☐ 8. Send a thank-you email to a professor that supported you.

☐ 9. Update your license plate to an official USC-branded tag. >>>

☐ 10. Submit a photo from your time at Carolina for us to share. >>>

☐ 11. Update your information to stay connected to the University.

☐ 12. Visit the Alumni Center for an upcoming event.

☐ 13. Develop your career at an alumni networking event. >>>

☐ 14. Read our monthly e-newsletter, Alumni Monthly.

☐ 15. Proudly frame and hang your diploma in your new office, home or apartment.

☐ 16. Leave your legacy on campus with a personalized Horseshoe brick. >>>

☐ 17.Enjoy Gamecock athletics with other alumni at a watch party near you.

☐ 18. Give back to your local community with fellow alumni at a service event.

☐ 19. Mentor a current USC student through the Mentorship Hub. >>>

☐ 20. Come home to Columbia during Homecoming weekend. >>>

☐ 21. Help future Gamecocks achieve their dreams by donating to our scholarship funds. >>>

☐ 22. Volunteer in a leadership position for an club or one of our four affinity groups. >>>

☐ 23. Wear Garnet and Black on College Colors Day. (Sept. 1, 2023)

☐ 24. Read Carolinian, the official alumni magazine published triannually.

☐ 25. Tailgate with the Alumni Association and the Gamecock Club at a football game. >>>

☐ 26. Teach a new Gamecock your favorite tradition.

☐ 27. Plan a reunion with classmates in your graduating year.

☐ 28. Run in-person or virtually in the annual Spurs Up Sprint 5K. >>>

☐ 29. Play Sandstorm on repeat after a Gamecock victory.

☐ 30. Use (or overuse) the Spurs Up emoji when texting. 🤙🤙🤙

☐ 31. Travel the globe through a #GamecocksAroundTheWorld travel program. >>>

☐ 32. Advocate for USC at the SC Statehouse on Carolina Day. >>>

☐ 33. Snap a selfie with Cocky.

☐ 34. Share your accomplishments in a class note to be featured in upcoming publications. >>>
